Welcome

DV West provides domestic violence support in the Penrith/Nepean, Blue Mountains, Blacktown/Hills and Hawkesbury district. We offer support and accommodation options for women with or without children who are experiencing or escaping domestic and family violence or abuse and for those women who may be at risk of homelessness. DV West consists of four long-standing services that have operated women’s refuges and outreach services for over 20 years in their respective locations. We provide all our services within a feminist framework and believe in making a difference in the community by having commitment to social justice action and advocating for a non-violent society. We assist women, regardless of cultural background, sexual preference or age.

We provide a range of services and programs including safe, supportive and non-institutionalised crisis refuge and medium term accommodation, support to establish and maintain safe housing, advocacy, referrals and assistance to obtain legal, financial and emotional support, individualised support for accompanying children, post-crisis support and various groups for women in the community. We offer domestic violence outreach programs to women in the community to assist women in remaining safely in their own home and to explore the issues they may be experiencing as a result of experiencing domestic violence or abuse.

All of the services provided by DV West are client-centered – focusing on the needs and goals of the women using our services. We believe in empowering women by offering alternatives so that they are able to take active responsibility and control of their lives – by making decisions based on an independent and self-determining lifestyle.
